Planting Vegetables for a Fall Harvest

August is here and it’s time to get busy planting if we desire to have a fall harvest.

I had a question today about what and when related to selecting vegetables to plant for a fall harvest and when to do it.

Broccoli, cabbage , cucumbers, lettuce, mustard & turnip greens, summer squash, are some of the crops that may be planted now. Other vegetables are listed to be planted even later. It’s a great time to consider using raised beds for planting fall vegetables.

If you are growing vegetables in the ground, it is recommended to test the soil every 3-4 years or anytime a nutrient or pH issue is suspected.
