Soil Test

Soil testing is one of the basic crop production practices that often gets overlooked. Fall soil testing can help prevent potential fertility problems in next year’s crop. Soil sampling fields this fall will allow you to get results back from the lab quicker since the volume of soil samples submitted is much lower in the fall. Applying lime as indicated by the soil test is the first step in a well managed crop fertility program.  Soil Tests for homeowner lawns, ornamentals, and fruit/vegetable gardens are only $15.00 per sample with a handling fee of $3.00 ($3.00 handling fee covers multiple samples). Sample boxes can be obtained at the Extension office. Soil samples will be shipped to the U.T. Soil Testing Lab in Nashville. Complete fertilizer and lime recommendations are returned to you for each soil sample.
