You have heard the saying “Timing is everything” and that certainly applies to options for effectively controlling bagworms feeding on landscape plants. Bagworms are usually found on junipers, cedars, and arborvitae but readily attack other species. Plant symptoms exhibited may include browning and/or defoliation.

Bagworms have been reported to be actively feeding in Tennessee for several weeks, and the windows for certain methods of controlling the pest are quickly closing.

As mentioned in other posts, scouting is one step in the integrated pest management approach to pest control. Begin scouting now for bagworms and continue scouting for a while as new infestations may occur. Always follow pesticide label directions when using pesticides.
